MakeHaven Main Space
The main makerspace and connected shops. This is located at 770 Chapel Street. Registered participants should ring the MakeHaven labeled doorbell. They will be directed down a long hallway, and down a set of stairs to our basement workshop.
No more dry, chapped lips! By the end of this workshop, you will have 25 tubes of your custom own blended lip balm. Mistletoe or not, you'll be ready! There is a fee for this class. Please go to MakeHaven Meetup to register and pay for the class.
"Casey R. Pickett, bee appreciator, wax sculptor, and lip balm maker, will teach us how to make our chapstick, using beeswax, apricot oil and peppermint oil. You will come away from this class with 25 tubes of lip balm. Great stocking stuffers. Get prepared for Mistletoe season, ski season, and cold blustery days."
I got into making lip balm when a bee keeping biology professor of mine gave me two five gallon pails of honeycomb. A friend and I processed the comb by heating it up on the stove, in a big pot, then cooling it and peeling off the big disk of wax and bee butts. Many hours of hand processing and a few nearly impossible-to-clean wax coated cooking pots later, we had gifts of honey, beeswax candles and lip balm to share with our families. I now focus just on the lip balm and get asked every year for more.
