0.1g Food Scale

Submitted by Kyle Glose on

We do not have a food scale in the kitchen area. This would be quite useful for weighing green coffee beans for the Behmor roaster as well as general kitchen use for cooking by weight instead of volume. Could be used for meats, spices, flour, etc. I have had a very positive experience with the Decent Simple Scale. It is very responsive, accurate, and a great price compared to other scales of its caliber.

Baratza Encore Coffee Grinder

Submitted by Kyle Glose on

Now that we have the Behmor coffee roaster, the next step to having fresh, delicious, high quality coffee is a grinder capable of consistently producing uniform coffee grounds. The Baratza Encore won't break the bank and is occasionally available for refurbished pricing. It is also ranked as the best grinder by the NYT Wirecutter and multiple members have expressed their general satisfaction with Baratza products.

Food Vacuum Sealer

Submitted by Denise McGillicuddy on

Buying in bulk can save money, but how do you divide up large portions so they don't go bad before you can use them? A food vacuum sealer!! It will also complement the Sous Vide machine for marinading things like meat, fish or tofu before cooking!

Sound-absorbing Panels for the Woodshop and Metalshop

Submitted by Andrew Suzuki on

The woodshop and metalshop can be quite loud, even when wearing proper hearing protection. Sound-absorbing panels will reduce the noise level. More research needed to determine the best placement (closest to which equipment, walls vs. ceilings, etc), panel type (foam, cotton, fabric stretched over wood frames, etc), aesthetics, and cost. Perhaps we can perform a crude test by hanging blankets on the walls.
