The Internet of Things is all about transforming everyday objects into connected devices. Your thermostat. Your gas meter. Your dog's collar.
But the available network options for connecting all the things tend to be too expensive, too power hungry, or too short range. What's needed is connectivity that costs pennies per month and can get a decade out of a battery. But nobody will build that network until there are devices that will pay to use it, and nobody will build those devices until that network is in place.
Enter Helium. Their solution to this "cold start problem" is a grassroots, block-chain-based network built by people like you and me, and they plan to convince us to do this with the lure of a cryptocurrency reward.
This event, hosted by IoT expert John Fitzpatrick, will explain how it all works and why you should think about getting a Helium Hotspot for yourself. More at: https://www.makehaven.org/IoT-network
