These workshops are for homebrewers old, new, and soon-to-be amazing.

After a short video intro to homebrewing beer we'll the home brewing process and the all grains beer that we will be learning how to make using your home stove.

If you can't trust your OS, you can't be secure.

We'll try out a few GNU/Linux distributions via VirtualBox or LiveUSB, and introduce you to a hardened version of Android.

Sean O'Brien (https://webio.me) will introduce you to free/open-source software solutions, guiding you through accessible workshops with tangible results.

This is a good place to start for better digital security.

Please bring a laptop to the class.

Patrick from the New Haven Free Public Library is going to come and tell us about some digital resources available to anyone in New Haven. A highlight will be the ablity to freely access Lynda.com's huge library of how to videos and tutorials with your library card. Topics covered in Lynda include 3d CAD, programming, music production, 2d design, computer administration and business principles.

"Open Collaboration and Open Skies" In the past ten years, open source has taken over the software industry. As the speed and requirements of innovation are changing, technology companies have realized that to keep pace and be cost effective they must leverage external R&D. How are these open source projects structured? How do you get involved. This talk provides an introduction to the Open Source movement and looks at the Dronecode Project, developing a common, shared open source platform for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).:

Sarah Boisvert will make a short presentation on what FabLabs are and share experiences she has had working with this world wide network of prototypeing and fabrication labs. 

DIY Neon Sign with EL Wire

You can use Electroluminescent (EL) wire to make a faux-neon sign for your wall or window. 

Materials used:

Bend the sculpture wire into the desired shape.  I would recommend not adding too many sharp angles

Router table, with fine joinery capabilities
