The Making of MakeHaven.org

I will go step by step though how I built the MakeHaven website. This will focus mostly on Drupal as a content management system and methods of quickly building a full featured site using that system. Participants will also get an increased familiarity with the features of the site.  This event would be focused on explaining to those who might want to develop sites.

Mental Floss

So I attended last night's get together and learned what a stepper motor is and helped Kam fix one that was jammed (good clean fun), but the highlight of the evening for my own personal self was when Ian Applegate showed up riding a bright green vintage Schwinn Sprint wearing an Evel Kneivel motorcycle helmet AND, under the helmet, Dominique Pinon wrap around shades (VR glasses) that were electronically broadcasting to his eyeballs what his handheld camera (in his hand at that very moment) was seeing.

3D Printer Build - Part 1

Today we had a fantastic 3D printer building event. Ben, JR, and myself got to MakeHaven around 10 AM, turned on some tunes, and opened up a rather intimidating box of 3D printed parts:

Then we saw a pile of threaded metal rods:

Mixed Reality and 3d Object with Blender (Compositing)

There are several video out there that show a 3d animation rendered into real life. Here is an example:

Lots of people call this Compositing. I think it would be fun to do in with some video tha is clearly in New Haven and digitally add some object that is out of place. I am not sure what object would best. Mabye something from history.
