Tasting Rules:
-
MakeHaven facilitates individual home brewing by providing a location and equipment.
-
Ingredients are purchased and brewing conducted by individual brewers, not MakeHaven.
-
The amount of beer produced is well below the established annual homebrewing limit of 200 gallons.
-
Products of homebrewing at MakeHaven are never sold.
-
Consumption of homebrew at MakeHaven is for the purpose of tasting and furtherance of the art of brewing.
-
Finished homebrew beer is stored with a lock preventing use of tap. The key is made available to those who have been oriented to brewing tools and who participate in the brewing community.
-
Samples and tastings are limited to individuals 21 years of age and older.
-
Signage affirms rules related to age limit and use of beer for tastings with brewers.
-
Brewing activity and any program involving minors are not scheduled for the same times.
-
Brewers never engage in any distillation (the production of liquor).
-
All tasters must be 21 years or older, have attended a beer brewing session at MakeHaven, and will provide beer only to those 21+ who are not intoxicated.
-
Members of the tasting community are asked to provide feedback to the brewers via tasting sheets or direct responses, and to contribute to the ingredients fund when able via the contributions box.
-
As is always true of all equipment at MakeHaven, individuals will not operate tools under the influence of alcohol.
-
Homebrewing and associated tastings are provided in order to further the craft of homebrew enthusiasts.
MakeHaven hosts a home brewing community.
Join the next community brewing session to learn the craft, enjoy tasting and connect with other brewing enthusiasts. No experience necessary. Check Slack #brewing and makehaven.org/events for upcoming activities.
There are 2 badges associated with the homebrewing: the master brewer badge for those who can operate the HERMS setup, and the brewing community badge, which allows the maker access the homebrew tasting tap key.
