Whether you're new to woodworking or looking to elevate your kitchen game, this introductory class led by Akeera is the perfect opportunity to delve into the world of woodcraft.
What to Expect:
In this hands-on class, Akeera will guide you through the step-by-step process of crafting your very own 10"x12" cutting board. Learn the essential skills of woodworking as you gain hands-on experience with a planer, table saw, chop saw, and sander. Discover the art of finishing as you apply mineral oil to bring out the natural beauty of your creation.

Safety First:
- Closed-Toe Shoes: Wear closed-toe shoes to protect your feet from potential hazards such as falling objects or splinters.
- Avoid Loose Items: Secure loose items like jewelry, hoodie strings, and any dangling accessories to prevent them from getting caught in machinery.
- Dress Appropriately: Choose clothing that covers your arms and legs to minimize exposure to wood dust and other workshop materials.
- Safety Goggles: Safety goggles will be provided, but if you have your own pair, feel free to bring them for a customized fit.
No Experience Necessary:
This class welcomes participants of all experience levels, making it an excellent opportunity for woodworking enthusiasts who may initially feel intimidated or those who prefer structured learning.
Lunch Break:
Enjoy a scheduled break roughly halfway through the class for lunch, providing a moment to recharge and connect with fellow woodworking enthusiasts. (Lunch is not included with the workshop, but there are many excellent options within a few blocks of MakeHaven in all directions.)
