Ever wanted to know how to make amazing quilts? Spend an afternoon with Denise, learning the basics of quilt-top making and go home with a piece ready to be turned into a wall hanging or expanded to a full quilt.

Learn how to make two of the most common quilt blocks using pre-cut strips! With a traditional nine patch and half square triangle blocks learn how to create many different quilt patterns. With these skills you'll be able to adapt them to nearly any shape that a quilt might call for.

In this class you will learn to:

  • Read a quilt-top pattern
  • Strip piecing
  • Use the cutting mat and ruler to get accurate cutting results
  • Improve your 1/4" seam for consistency
  • Pressing seams
  • Assemble your squares into a quilt top
  • Square up your quilt top

Ticket price includes jelly roll, pattern, thread and all materials needed to create an approximately 2'x2' quilt-top piece. Attendants are welcome to bring their own precut fabric pieces if you have a specific color/pattern you would like to use. We ask that each person bring an iron to use, we have limited numbers available for use at the space.

Attendants should have familiarity with standard sewing machine usage but do not need to have experience with quilting. This class is focused on the quilt-top creation. Batting and backing fabric will not be included, completing a quilt can be done with the piece you will leave with but will not be done within the class.
