3d Printing Problems on the Replicator 2's

Submitted by [current-user:… on

Was finally able to complete a print of the infamous shift knob this AM.  Used Adam vice Eve this time and tried something completely different.  I mounted the (white) filament on Eve and strung it across to Adam.  It was much easier to monitor the slack and several times detected overwraps that would have not have been seen behnd the machine.  I suspect that even minor tension on the filament will cause the type of problems I have been having.  A good solution might  be to mount the reels on the wall where they can be better observed and controlled.&

HERMS Progress

Hey MakeHaven,

Just wanted to let everyone know we have several updates to the HERMS project page.  Have a look to get up to speed.

We're still refining the process, but we're also making beer.  I was considering scheduling a brew day to introduce people to the project, and get them some time using the machine.

Remote Control Car build

Submitted by Dan Kops on

I'm forming a small project team to customize a remote control car.

Specifically, I propose we design a car from chassis up and fabricate much of it using the makerbots and laser cutters. I'd like to recruit someone(s) with electronics expertise to help with custom circuitry.

These cars are really cool. I've built a 1/18 scale electric that hit 60. We could exceed that, if the team is determined.

Perfect "vehicle" to learn more about Inventor and the makerbots. I'm thinking weekly meetings, but I'm open to ideas. I'm also flexible on project goals.

Music Monday Meetup

Meetup to talk about and participate in making music. The focus of first meetup ha been on creating electronic music but all music makers are welcome. The group will do brief introductions and then break into groups based on interest and skills. The goal will be to have groups work on sharing knowledge and work on small projects together.

We may order pizza (determined based on intrest at meetup)

Join Ken Lovell, Associate Technical Director of Yale’s Digital Media Center for the Arts for a disscussion about 3d printing. The conversation will be aimed at people who are looking to enhance their 3d printing knowledge and share learning with others involved in 3d printing.
