The masks made by following these instructions do not guarantee protection against transmission of any diseases, but there is significant data to support the use of physical barriers to reduce transmission of airborne droplets, which can infect you with respiratory viruses. Commercially available masks meet regulatory guidelines, but homemade masks do not. Homemade masks are to be used at your own risk. Due to variability of materials and construction, the mask’s safety or effectiveness for personal protection is not proven and cannot be assumed. Please still practice social distancing to the best degree that you can. These are not equivalent to standard surgical masks.

Calling all tailors, seamstresses, seamsters, sewists, needle masters, anyone who sews – now is your moment! We are coordinating efforts to sew COVID-19 protection masks for organizations in need. We have requests for hundreds already.

On Saturdays we gather to address questions and problems and troubleshoot difficulties. Come in to ask questions or offer your experience and advice to those with questions. Together we do better!
