Stop the Bleed is a one-hour course which includes a presentation and hands-on training designed to deliver the medical knowledge and the confidence to stop life-threatening bleeding. These skills taught are important for the community to learn because life-threatening bleeding can occur almost anywhere and can kill within minutes.
Life-threatening bleeding can be caused by power tool mishaps, occur in everyday activities from broken glass, vehicle accidents, or .
gun violence. With the proper training and equipment, anyone can stop life-threatening bleeding and save a life.
Stop the Bleed is a one-hour course developed by the American College of Surgeons and the Hartford Consensus in accordance with President Barack Obama’s policy directive for national preparedness (Presidential Policy Directive 8).
The program we will undertake is run by a team of instructors from the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine, led by Breanna Robinson, a former Advanced EMT from Las Vegas, who work together to teach these skills to the surrounding community to empower the public to provide life-saving skills. All of our instructors are volunteers as we work to deliver this course to the community at no cost. The session is no cost and results in a certificate that documents that you have been taught these skills.
