MakeHaven Main Space
The main makerspace and connected shops. This is located at 770 Chapel Street. Registered participants should ring the MakeHaven labeled doorbell. They will be directed down a long hallway, and down a set of stairs to our basement workshop.
This class will be a basic introduction to the concepts behind CNC work. The first part of the class will be an introduction to the concept but we will quickly move to actually preparing member designs for use on the Shapeoko CNC. We cut out as many designs as time allows.
We will demonstrate:
• Use of Inkscape and Tinkercad for design.
• Use of PYCam and Easel.com for preparing the gcode (machine instruction file).
• Then OpenSCAM to preview the cuts.
• Then show how it can be sent to the machine.
The project that students will do is to convert an SVG to Easel.com to generate gcode to cut out a shape.
We participants to think about in advance what drawing they would like to carve. Forward your design to johnrichardlogan@gmail.com for feedback.
